In recognition of the importance of localizing the railway industry in the Kingdom and ensuring the sustainability of this localization, the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC)  and the Saudi Railway Company (SAR) have entered into a strategic partnership agreement to establish a specialized railway training academy, namely, the "Saudi Technical Institute for Railways (STIR)."

Since the commencement of training, the institute has been focused on qualifying Saudi youth, benefiting from partnerships forged by the institute by attracting trainers from global expertise in train operation (passenger trains in the Northern Project, Haramain High-Speed Train, freight and mineral transport trains), maintenance of signaling, communication, and control systems, station and passenger services, as well as maintenance of railway infrastructure.
